What you'll learn
First aider role in activity settings
Understand your responsibilities when providing first aid during sports and outdoor activities, including record keeping and use of available equipment.Primary survey and incident assessment
Use a clear, structured approach to assessing incidents, prioritising casualties and calling for help in remote or busy environments.CPR, AED and unresponsive casualties
Deliver effective adult CPR, use an AED and manage unresponsive casualties safely, including use of the recovery position.Bleeding, shock and minor injuries
Control external bleeding, recognise and manage shock, and treat common minor injuries such as cuts, grazes and nosebleeds.Activity-related injuries
Recognise and support fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains, as well as head, spinal, chest and abdominal injuries linked to physical activity.Burns, eye injuries and environmental conditions
Provide first aid for burns, eye injuries and problems linked to heat, cold and exertion such as heat exhaustion and hypothermia.Sudden illness in active environments
