What you'll learn

By the end of this course, you will be able to deliver basic life support for adults, children and infants in your clinical setting.

Age‑appropriate resuscitation principles

Understand the similarities and differences between adult, child and infant life support.

Adult CPR and AED

Practise high‑quality adult CPR and safe AED use according to Resuscitation Council UK guidance.

Child CPR and AED

Perform CPR on a child and use paediatric AED settings or pads where available.

Infant CPR

Deliver safe and effective CPR for infants using correct compression and ventilation techniques.

Unresponsive casualties in all age groups

Place unresponsive but breathing adults, children and infants into safe positions and monitor them appropriately.

Escalation and teamwork

Follow local escalation procedures and work as part of a team during resuscitation attempts.

Documentation and debrief

Support accurate record‑keeping and contribute to debriefs and learning after BLS events.

Course outcomes
