This half‑day to one‑day update course helps existing First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate‑holders refresh key life‑saving skills between full requalification courses.

It follows Qualsafe and HSE recommendations for annual refresher training.

This course is ideal for organisations that already invest in First Aid at Work but want assurance that skills such as CPR, AED use and management of serious bleeding remain current, consistent and defensible across their workforce.

What you'll learn

By the end of this course, you will refresh and practise the critical skills needed to respond confidently to life‑threatening emergencies at work.

Update on first aider responsibilities

Revisit your responsibilities, reporting requirements and any key updates in first aid guidance.

Primary survey refresh

Reinforce a structured DRABC approach to quickly assess and manage an emergency.

Adult CPR and AED practice

Practise high‑quality CPR and AED use on adult manikins to maintain muscle memory and confidence.

Unresponsive casualty management

Refresh safe use of the recovery position and monitoring of breathing in an unresponsive casualty.

Choking drills

Rehearse the recognition and treatment of choking using training vests or manikins.

Serious bleeding and shock

Review bleeding control techniques and recognition and first aid for shock.

Key medical emergencies

Recap recognition and first aid priorities for heart attack, stroke, seizures and anaphylaxis as appropriate.
