Who are Qualsafe Awards?

Qualsafe Awards is one of the largest Ofqual-recognised awarding organisations in the UK. They design and regulate nationally recognised first aid, health and safety and pre-hospital care qualifications on the Regulated Qualifications Framework.

Their team includes experienced clinicians and subject specialists who set the learning outcomes, assessments and quality standards behind the qualifications we deliver. In simple terms, they set the bar, and we are independently checked against it.

What it means to be an Approved Centre

Being approved by Qualsafe Awards is not a badge you buy. It is a status you earn and keep by meeting strict conditions around:

  • Trainer and assessor competence and clinical background,
  • Course design and lesson planning,
  • Assessment methods and record-keeping,
  • Internal quality assurance and auditing, and
  • Facilities, equipment and learner support.

Our centre, trainers and systems are reviewed against these requirements. That ongoing scrutiny is what gives you, your learners and your insurer confidence that the training is being delivered properly, not just “ticked off”.

How this benefits your learners

From a learner’s perspective, choosing a Qualsafe Awards course at an Approved Centre means

A regulated qualification

The certificate is Ofqual‑regulated, nationally recognised and sits on the RQF. It is easy for employers, regulators and professional bodies to understand and verify.

Clear, consistent standards

The course content, contact time and assessments are set by Qualsafe Awards, not left to chance. Learners know what is expected of them and what they will be able to do at the end.

Independent quality assurance

Trainers, assessors and internal verifiers are all monitored against the same external standard. This reduces the risk of “easy passes” that later fall apart under investigation.

Stronger protection for employers

Many of the first aid and workplace safety qualifications we deliver help employers meet HSE and wider legal duties. Using an Ofqual‑regulated, Qualsafe Awards course makes that due diligence easier to show.

Transferable proof of competence

Because Qualsafe Awards is widely recognised, learners can present their certificate with confidence when they change role, employer or regulator.

Why it matters when something goes wrong

Most training looks fine when nobody is hurt. The real test comes after an incident, complaint or claim.

In those moments, investigators and insurers will not just ask “did you send staff on a course?”. They will ask: “Was it a regulated qualification? Who awarded it? How do we know it met accepted standards?”

By choosing Qualsafe Awards qualifications through an Approved Centre, you can answer those questions clearly. You can show that:

  • The course followed an Ofqual-regulated syllabus,
  • The assessment was set and quality-assured by an awarding organisation, and
  • Internal quality assurance checks were in place.

That does not remove risk, but it does show that you took reasonable, informed steps to train your people properly.

How we use Qualsafe Awards at Localmedic

We deliver a range of Qualsafe Awards regulated qualifications, including first aid and pre-hospital care, to organisations across the UK. These courses are selected where an Ofqual-regulated route is the right fit for the risk and regulatory context.

For each client, we will help you decide whether a Qualsafe Awards qualification, a different awarding route, or a bespoke non-regulated course best matches your risk profile, sector expectations and budget. The aim is not to “badge everything”, but to make sure the level of qualification matches the level of responsibility you are placing on your staff.
